Soma Bay
Soma Bay, Egypt — Red Sea Vacation Guide
Soma Bay is a peninsula resort town on the Red Sea, south of Hurghada. This page uses the destination’s own published facts, then points to the vacation homes Faramawy actually lists.

A sheltered Red Sea coast.
Soma Bay at a glance
Experience Egypt describes Soma Bay as a resort town on a peninsula south of Hurghada, with sandy beaches, hotels, spas, golf and water sports. Somabay’s site presents the same coast for stays, golf and a directory of activities. Faramawy Vacation Homes lists approved, published homes here. Those homes are separate from the hotels named on the official site.
Where is Soma Bay?
It is on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, south of Hurghada, on a peninsula with the sea around it and mountains inland. That is how Experience Egypt places the town. This guide does not give a kilometre distance or a drive time, because those figures are not in the sources used here.
Why stay in Soma Bay?
The published reasons are the beaches, reefs for diving and snorkeling, wind for kite and windsurf sports, an 18-hole golf course by the sea, and a marina for meals and shops. If you want a home rather than a hotel room, start with the vacation homes Faramawy has published. Each home shows its own location, capacity and nightly price.
Beaches and the Red Sea
Experience Egypt’s beach and leisure page describes time on the sand alongside golf and spa treatments. Somabay’s resort notes describe sandy beachfront, including a house reef beside The Breakers. Beach use still depends on where you stay and on the day. Faramawy does not operate those beaches.
Diving and snorkeling
Somabay’s directory lists Orca Diving Center and boat trips. Experience Egypt points to reefs for diving and snorkeling, and to a glass boat for seeing marine life without entering the water. The Breakers is described on the official site as next to the house reef. Schedules belong to those operators, not to this website.
Kitesurfing, windsurfing and water sports
Somabay’s things-to-do page names wakeboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing, and the directory lists 7BFT Kite House. The Sheraton Soma Bay note on the official site also mentions sailing, snorkeling, glass-bottom boats and Soma Splash Aqua Park. Experience Egypt describes calm water, wind and reefs as the setting. Whether you can go out depends on the wind and on the operator.
Golf
Somabay Golf publishes an 18-hole championship course designed by Gary Player, played from four sets of tees, and a Par 3 Challenge Course designed by Tim Lobb and James Edwards. The same pages describe a golf academy, a driving range, a short-game area and footgolf. Championship tee times are published as 7:00 until sunset. A second 18-hole course is described as still under construction. Golf is booked with Somabay, not as part of a Faramawy stay.
Marina, dining and leisure
Somabay’s directory describes the marina as dining, shops and souvenirs, with Egyptian cooking, seafood and other menus. Names on that directory include Baladina, Kokomo, Thomas Pizza and Seven Fortune, among others. The same list includes padel, squash, a stable and boat trips. Hours are left on the official pages.
Wellness and spa
Somabay presents The Cascades Golf Resort, Spa & Thalasso as a spa with treatment rooms and a seawater hydrotherapy pool. The Robinson Soma Bay note adds a spa, fitness, Pilates and yoga. Experience Egypt also lists hydrotherapy and body treatments with beach time. Book treatments with those venues.
Things to do in Soma Bay
Somabay’s directory is the practical list: diving, boat trips, kitesurfing, golf, the marina, padel, squash and horse riding. Experience Egypt adds a desert safari with a Bedouin dinner, a day trip to Utopia Island, and a glass boat. Somabay’s things-to-do page also mentions Luxor as a separate cultural trip, not as part of the peninsula.
Family-friendly experiences
Soma Splash Aqua Park is named in the Sheraton Soma Bay description. Somabay Golf describes footgolf as a round that does not need golf experience. On Faramawy, each home shows bedrooms, bathrooms and a guest limit. Use those numbers. A home is not labelled for families unless that home’s own text says so.
Couples and quiet stays
Experience Egypt describes Soma Bay for a quiet holiday as well as for sport: beach time, spa treatments and golf. The official resort pages describe beachfront hotels and spa time at Cascades and Robinson. For a private home, compare the published Faramawy homes and read the capacity and house rules on each page.
Getting to Soma Bay
The town is south of Hurghada on the Red Sea. This page does not publish a distance, a flight time or a transfer timetable. Somabay’s directory lists Go Bus among local services; confirm any bus with the operator. A Faramawy booking pays for the stay. Airport transport is included only if a published service says so.
Where to stay in Soma Bay
Somabay’s site presents hotel resorts, including Kempinski, Sheraton Soma Bay, The Cascades, Robinson Soma Bay and The Breakers, plus Stayr for serviced homes. Those are the destination’s own listings. A Faramawy stay is a home published on this website, with its own rate and dates.
Faramawy Vacation Homes in Soma Bay
A published home shows its location, photos, nightly price and guest capacity. Check-in, check-out and house rules appear when they have been added for that home. To book, verify the email for the stay, review the quote, accept the booking policy when it is shown, and pay by card. The stay is confirmed when that payment succeeds.
